Header Course installation in Peppermint Grove. These recycled red bricks have been laid 'on-edge' and the header courses are being installed on a concrete bed to secure them in place and prevent movement over time.
Hi my name is Joel Bergen. I am the owner and Landscape Architect at JB Landscaping.
My passion for landscaping comes from humble beginnings; my father being somewhat of a work-a-holic, built and maintained a large garden space for my siblings and I whilst growing up. I guess his energy and sense of achievement that came from what he had created must have inspired and rubbed off on me.
Following a Certificate III in Horticulture and a full apprenticeship in landscape construction I went on to complete a four-year Bachelor of Landscape Architecture Degree at the University of Western Australia. Upon graduation, I began work with WA's largest design and construct landscaping company as a designer and project manager. Here I helped design and oversee construction on a range of residential and large-scale commercial projects including CBD office complexes, shopping centre frontages, resort landscapes and development entry statements.
Since forming JB Landscaping in 2009, my role is to manage all major projects from schematic design right through to realisation. My approach to landscape installation has always been about selling quality design and vision whilst delivering value via my hands-on approach. Whether it be tagging plant material, meeting with subcontractors to discuss finishes, or setting garden bed levels; I am personally committed to the details. I have kept my business small and overheads low, giving me the freedom to choose projects that compliment my brand and reputation.
I recognise that landscaping is often the final trade in a long building process and I have a strong focus on cleanliness and organisation. I will ensure the highest level of respect for the workspace at all times.
